Who We Are

The InnerScience Personality Report was created by Dr. Bradley Nevins and Dr. Ming Him Tai who are professionals in clinical psychology, personality research, and test design. Lear more about them below.

Dr. Bradley G. Nevins, Ph.D., ABPP

Co-Developer of the InnerScience Personality Report | Board-Certified Clinical Psychologist | Author of Applying Personality-Informed Treatment Strategies to Clinical Practice

Dr. Bradley G. Nevins is a board-certified clinical psychologist, author, and expert in personality assessment and treatment strategies. With over three decades of experience in clinical psychology, Dr. Nevins has worked extensively with individuals struggling with problematic personality functioning, complex trauma, mood disorders, and relationship challenges.

Dr. Nevins is the author of Applying Personality-Informed Treatment Strategies to Clinical Practice: A Theoretical and Practical Guide, a book that provides clinicians with effective, personality-informed interventions. His expertise in personality dynamics, psychotherapy, and psychological assessment led him to co-develop this innovative personality test alongside Dr. Ming Him Tai, a psychometrician specializing in personality measurement and adaptive testing. Together, they have created a scientifically rigorous assessment that goes beyond traditional personality tests, offering a deeper understanding of how personality traits shift in different situations and providing practical strategies for self-improvement.

Throughout his career, Dr. Nevins has been at the forefront of clinical practice, psychological assessment, and mental health education. He has served as Clinical Director and Co-Founder of Midwest Psychological Services, overseeing multidisciplinary mental health teams and providing clinical supervision to therapists. His experience extends to private practice, hospital-based settings, and faculty positions, where he has trained future psychologists in personality theory, psychotherapy, and psychological assessment.

He earned his master’s degree in counseling psychology from Loyola University Maryland and his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University – Los Angeles. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the University of Southern California. He is a licensed psychologist, a National Register of Health Service Psychologists provider, and holds board certification in Clinical Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).

Dr. Nevins’ passion for personality science has driven him to develop an assessment tool that is both clinically sound and accessible to the general public. Unlike conventional personality tests that provide static labels, this test examines how personality traits adapt under stress and in positive life circumstances—offering a more nuanced and dynamic view of personality functioning.

Dr. Ming Him Tai, Ph.D.

Co-Developer of the InnerScience Personality Report (IPR) | Psychometrician | Assistant Teaching Professor, Pennsylvania State University

Dr. Ming Tai is a quantitative psychologist and psychometrician whose work bridges the science of measurement with the art of understanding human personality. As co-developer of the InnerScience Personality Report, Dr. Tai brings deep expertise in psychometrics, adaptive testing, and personality theory to the design of tools that are not only accurate, but truly meaningful in people’s lives.

Dr. Tai earned his Ph.D. in Psychology and M.S. in Statistics from the University of Minnesota, with a focus on quantitative and psychometric methods. His research has explored the structure of personality traits, measurement of psychological change, and innovations in computerized adaptive testing. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at major international conferences, contributing to the evolving science of psychological assessment.

Currently an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Psychology at Penn State, Dr. Tai teaches courses in industrial-organizational psychology, statistics, and psychometrics. His academic and clinical work reflect a commitment to building tools that are both empirically rigorous and practically useful. With the InnerScience Personality Report, he has helped create an assessment that moves beyond static trait labels to capture the fluidity of personality across contexts, stress, and self-regulation.

By integrating scientific research, clinical expertise, and advanced psychometric modeling, Dr. Nevins and Dr. Tai have created a personality test that is valuable for both individual self-discovery and professional mental health applications. Whether you are looking to gain deeper insight into your personality, improve your relationships, or use this tool in a clinical setting, this test provides a truly personalized approach to understanding personality.

Why We Built InnerScience

Most personality tests fall short in one of two ways — popular ones are engaging but vague, boxing people into types that don’t truly fit. Clinical ones focus almost entirely on what’s wrong, offering little insight into what’s strong.

With decades of combined experience in psychology, research, and assessment, Dr. Nevins and Dr. Tai saw the same problem again and again: existing tests were either too simplistic or too clinical — giving people labels without direction.

That’s why we built InnerScience to be different.

Our Approach

Grounded in modern psychology, complexity science, and advanced assessment methods, The InnerScience Personality Report provides a dynamic picture of personality. Rather than a label that sits on a page, you get a personalized roadmap for growth that you can use every day — one that shows your strengths, blind spots, and how your traits shift under stress. Real personality insights. Real change. Real growth.
