Meet the InnerScience Founders
The InnerScience Personality Report was created by Dr. Bradley Nevins and Dr. Ming Him Tai who are professionals in clinical psychology, personality research, and test design. Learn more about them below.
Dr. Bradley G. Nevins, Ph.D., ABPP
Co-Developer of the InnerScience Personality Report | Board-Certified Clinical Psychologist | Author of Applying Personality-Informed Treatment Strategies to Clinical Practice
Dr. Bradley G. Nevins is a board-certified clinical psychologist, author, and expert in personality assessment and treatment strategies. With over three decades of experience in clinical psychology, he has worked extensively with individuals struggling with problematic personality functioning and complex trauma. His work also covers mood disorders and relationship challenges.
His clinical background gives InnerScience a depth most workplace assessments lack. It’s a real understanding of how people function, and struggle, under pressure. As a result, that expertise now shapes how organizations use InnerScience to support leaders and teams through high-stress moments. It’s not just about identifying their strengths.
Throughout his career, Dr. Nevins has been at the forefront of clinical practice, psychological assessment, and mental health education. For example, he served as Clinical Director and Co-Founder of Midwest Psychological Services. There, he oversaw multidisciplinary mental health teams and provided clinical supervision to therapists. In addition, his experience extends to private practice, hospital-based settings, and faculty positions. He has trained future psychologists in personality theory, psychotherapy, and psychological assessment
Credentials
He earned his master’s degree in counseling psychology from Loyola University Maryland. He completed his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. That was in Los Angeles. After that, he completed his pre-doctoral internship at the University of Southern California. Today, he is a licensed psychologist and a National Register of Health Service Psychologists provider. He also holds board certification in Clinical Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
Dr. Nevins’ passion for personality science drove him to build an assessment tool that is both clinically sound and accessible. Unlike conventional personality tests that provide static labels, this one examines how personality traits adapt under stress. It also looks at how they adapt in positive circumstances, offering a more nuanced, dynamic view of personality functioning.
Dr. Ming Him Tai, Ph.D.
Co-Developer of the InnerScience Personality Report (IPR) | Psychometrician | Assistant Teaching Professor, Pennsylvania State University
Dr. Ming Tai is a quantitative psychologist and psychometrician. His work bridges the science of measurement with the art of understanding human personality. As co-developer of the InnerScience Personality Report, Dr. Tai brings deep expertise in psychometrics, adaptive testing, and personality theory. His work makes tools that are accurate and genuinely meaningful in people’s lives.
Academically, Dr. Tai earned his Ph.D. in Psychology and M.S. in Statistics from the University of Minnesota. His focus was on quantitative and psychometric methods. Since then, his research has explored the structure of personality traits and the measurement of psychological change. He has also studied innovations in computerized adaptive testing, and published widely in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, he has presented his work at major international conferences, contributing to the evolving science of psychological assessment.
Currently an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Psychology at Penn State, Dr. Tai teaches courses in industrial-organizational psychology and statistics. He also teaches psychometrics. Overall, his academic and clinical work reflect a commitment to building tools that are empirically rigorous and practically useful. With the InnerScience Personality Report, he helped create an assessment that moves beyond static trait labels. It captures the fluidity of personality across contexts, stress, and self-regulation.
Together, Dr. Nevins and Dr. Tai combined scientific research, clinical expertise, and advanced psychometric modeling. The result is a personality assessment built for the workplace. Whether you’re developing leaders, strengthening team communication, or supporting employees through high-pressure moments, InnerScience gives you a science-based way to understand how your people work. And, ultimately, how they work best.
Why We Built InnerScience
Most personality tests fall short in one of two ways — popular ones are engaging but vague, boxing people into types that don’t truly fit. Meanwhile, clinical ones focus almost entirely on what’s wrong, offering little insight into what’s strong.
After decades of combined experience in psychology, research, and assessment, Dr. Nevins and Dr. Tai saw the same problem again and again: existing tests were either too simplistic or too clinical — giving people labels without direction.
Ultimately, that’s why we built InnerScience to be different.
Our Approach
Grounded in modern psychology, complexity science, and advanced assessment methods, the InnerScience Personality Report provides a dynamic picture of personality. Instead of a label that sits on a page, your organization gets a practical guide for team development — one that shows your people’s strengths, blind spots, and how they perform under stress.
